Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire

Beautiful Disaster: A Novel by [McGuire, Jamie]

BLURB: The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate number of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance from the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University’s Walking One-Night Stand.

Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby wants—and needs—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.

REVIEW: I bought this book based of the cover because I wanted to read something different. I didn't read the back I just bought it on impulse. (It is book one in a 3 part series) I felt that the story was pretty good but I didn't enjoy the constant teenage angst and back and forth. I felt like the main characters relationship was just an entire disaster (fitting title) and borderline abusive. I can't count the times I wanted to bang my head against the wall because of them. However, that being said, I did like how the characters grew throughout the story. Honestly I may bang my head against the wall a lot more as I want to see how the story winds up.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

The Night Circus by [Morgenstern, Erin]

BLURB: The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night.

But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway: a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors. Unbeknownst to them both, this is a game in which only one can be left standing. Despite the high stakes, Celia and Marco soon tumble headfirst into love, setting off a domino effect of dangerous consequences, and leaving the lives of everyone, from the performers to the patrons, hanging in the balance.

REVIEW: Honestly what can I say about this book... It's MAGICAL. I feel more in love page by page. This is one of those books that I can see myself  reading over and over again. I feel like it could easily become a classic in years to come.I could hardly put this book down. The descriptions are so vivid, and the characters a developed extremely well. I NEED MORE of this world!

Verity by Colleen Hoover

BLURB: Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer on the brink of financial ruin when she accepts the job offer of a lifetime. Jeremy Crawford, husband of bestselling author Verity Crawford, has hired Lowen to complete the remaining books in a successful series his injured wife is unable to finish.

Lowen arrives at the Crawford home, ready to sort through years of Verity's notes and outlines, hoping to find enough material to get her started. What Lowen doesn't expect to uncover in the chaotic office is an unfinished autobiography Verity never intended for anyone to read. Page after page of bone-chilling admissions, including Verity's recollection of the night their family was forever altered.

Lowen decides to keep the manuscript hidden from Jeremy, knowing its contents would devastate the already grieving father. But as Lowen's feelings for Jeremy begin to intensify, she recognizes all the ways she could benefit if he were to read his wife's words. After all, no matter how devoted Jeremy is to his injured wife, a truth this horrifying would make it impossible for him to continue to love her.

Due to graphic scenes and mature content, this book is recommended for readers 18+.

REVIEW: This book is so twisted and sick it just pulls you in until its over and leaves you sitting there wondering what just happened. I still can't believe it's over. I need more! Honestly i think it will give me nightmares for days to come. I don't know how I got through some of it but I swear its worth it. I love Hoover's writing style and will be looking for more books by them ASAP.

Laguna by A'gata Green

Laguna: A Lethal Weapon by [Green, A'gata]

BLURB: Laguna: A Lethal Weapon is a psychological thriller that will take you on a journey from the stirrings of new love to a passionate obsession, with many erotic moments along the way. The poignant ending propels the ill-fated lovers to an unexpected crescendo that you will never forget.
You will meet Anastasia, a Siberian-born cosmopolitan woman and her beloved Alejandro, an escapee from the chaos in Chile during the 80s. Their story unfolds in the dazzling city of Montréal and ends in the snowy mountains of Alberta.
Within the pages you will learn about a technique—known as Laguna—that few men can master. A technique that combines powerful energy of a dedicated man and leaves women breathless and almost unconscious.
Prepared to be charmed, titillated, and shocked. It doesn't get much better than this.
Erotic psychological thriller

REVIEW: I received a Kindle copy of this book from #NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Laguna is a basic erotic novel and it is said to have a psychological thriller element which is one of the things that intrigued me about the book (however I did not see any real signs of that at all), The book was pretty short and I read it in one sitting. I noted a few spelling and grammatical errors throughout the book but it didn't distract from the story to much. However the layout on the kindle really distracted me. it was like one big chapter with pages where the chapters should have been sorted would have huge headers to indicate the next part. I just could not seem to connect to the characters of this story and while there was some back story I feel like it should have went deeper to understand them more. It felt like I just went from sexual experience to new sexual experience every couple of pages with no real story in between. I just felt like there could be so much more to this story and I never found it.

REVIEW: I received this ARC book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. A Death At Tippitt Pond drew me in just from looking at the cover and it did not disappoint(such a page-turner!). I love the story and how the author kept me guessing right up until the very end. I had a hard time putting it down! i loved how each character came to life as i read it. I would recommend it to anyone. I am hoping there are more books to follow this one as it would make a great series. Keep up the good work Van Kirk I cant wait to see what you come up with next!
